Zen? Essence

let go of the self
be actualized by the ten thousand things
drop body and mind
Dogen
no body
no mind mirror bright
nowhere for dust to alight
Huineng

So, not even Zen, nor preceding references (zenna, dhyana), perhaps not even buddha, tao nor Upanishad’s brahmin

Then:
Living in the world yet not forming attachments to the dust of the world is the way...
Censure yourself but never another. Never discuss right and wrong.
Virtues are the results of self discipline and do not drop from the heavens like rain or snow.
Some things, though right, were considered wrong for generations. Since the value of righteousness may be recognized after centuries, there is no need to crave an immediate appreciation.
Even though in a dark room, be as if you where facing a noble guest. Express your feelings, but become no more expressive than your own true nature.
Live with cause and leave results to the great law of the universe. Pass each day in peaceful contemplation.

Awakening & Nirvana

Lance Kinseth, Woodman Hollow

Nirvana is the generous, magnanimous state of existing where all aspects of human experience come in and are digested, moment after moment, creating complete peace. Nirvana is not enlightenment; it is everyday life based on wisdom. Standing in the realm of wisdom and seeing truth, you think deeply: How can I build up everyday life? This is our aspiration or hope. That is called arousing bodhi-mind.
Dainin Katagiri, Each Moment Is The Universe

Just turn to the ocean of your own essence [awakening] and develop practical accord with its true nature. [nirvana]
